The big move!

Well we took a big leap of faith and moved to Lewiston. Buddy accepted a job at ATK which builds bullets and has some major production contracts with the government. I have transferred my schooling from EITC to Lewis Clark State and am now attacking my BA instead of my Associates. I'm pretty excited, but am definately doing some major adjusting not being so close to family and friends. It is hard, but I think that we have some great opportunities at hand. I will post a few pictures of our new place and my kids :) They are growing so quick! Maddi is at the stage of jabbering and then some english then back to jabber. Its great. Burton is getting so smart and can almost sing his abc's all by himself.

Ohhh Madilyn....

Madilyn is pretty funny and seems to get into things at the masses. She is so much fun though. I had to snag a pic of her when she did this because it was just too funny.

Welcome Spring!

Well I know it has definately been a while since my last post. My house sure has been busy. Just a little update on what we've been doing....
Burton is three years old and is such a little boy! He is so smart and always has a thought on what to do next, as in he rarely holds still. He loves playing nija turtles on the x box and pretends he is one quite often. He really is a hoot. And so smart too! He can run the tv, x box and dvd players all too well, which is both a good and bad thing. He is so sneaky. He'll wake up sneak over close my bedroom door and then run and turn on an x box game (since he's supposed to ask before playing).

Madilyn is now standing up by herself and trying to walk more and more everyday. She is so proud of herself which is so fun to watch. She is such a sweetheart too! She will sit next to me and snuggle and jabber away. She is starting to say more words too, I sure am just tickled pink for how cute her personality is.

Buddy is working at The Cellar and just loves it. He is able to stay home with the kids while I'm at school and work and then goes to work when I get home.

I am working at Randall Crane Attorneys and have been there almost a year now. I am also still going o school and should be able to graduate next spring.

We have a new addition to our family and his name is BumbleBee. He is an 11 month old pug and /is super crazy most of the time but we sure love him. We are still in training mode with him and potty training and getting him to not eat paper is definately a challenge.

We sure are excited for the warm weather that has started to come our way. We went to the park yesterday and man everyone had a blast and was so good even the dog!!

I am not taking any summer classes this year so I will be able to spend all my time I'm not at work relaxing and playing with my kids. I'm so excited!!

Pumpkin Carving

We have continued the tradition and carved pumpkins tonight. It was a blast. Burton had lots of fun and Maddi liked how it flet to squish the guts in between her fingers.

HAPPY HALLOWEEN!

Maddi has finally conquered the sitting up... and tomorrow she will be 9 months old. Where does the time go. Maddi is also scooting around and who knows when she'll totally become mobile. We still are toothless which is fine because we are still nursing partially lol. We had a Dr. visit last week she's been having a nasty cough and I couldn't fight it anymore so we went in and she has a sinus infection, and now is on antibiotics. Other than that Maddi is all well and a happy little girl. Burton is getting excited for his upcoming birthday and since I asked him what he wants and what kind of cake he wants all I hear is I want this and I want that at my party mom. Right now we are having 3 different cakes and all the toys on the commercials from Nick, Disney and Cartoon Network. GO figure. He is getting so smart and catching on to all the little things we say. I think my favorite thing he copies is "shhhh you're driving me nuts!" Is that bad I tell my children that... its all out of love at least right :) This pic of Burton is at my birthday dinner at Texas Roadhouse and he is wearing the birthday hat. Silly kid. I am very blessed to have the kids I do I sure love them.

My house sure has been busy the last 2 months. We have been moving and going to school and working and just finished midterms so we have barely had the time to breathe. I am hoping things start to slow down a little so we can catch up and maybe my kids won't grow as fast if time slows.... good luck right? Well we love you all and hope all is well in your neck of the woods.

Summer and Madilyn is seven months!

Well its been ages, but I am writing a quick post. We are all doing wonderful. Getting ready to move out of my mom's. I have officially packed my first box. I am working for a criminal defense law firm in downtown Idaho Falls. It is a great office. Very nice people. Burton is running around, we are going through the super hero stage. Grandma Lisa bought him some jammies with a cape so trying to stay up on the laundry of that pair of jammies has been a task. I am going to have to invest in another pair or two for him. That and he finds towels all over and will bring the towel and a hairband to you and say "SUPERHERO". He is so cute and full of energy. Madilyn is rolling around everywhere and eating solids now. She is growing so fast. She is seven months today. I can 't even believe that I am saying that. The second child grows so much faster than your first. :( Buddy and I start school the 24th of August. So just short of 2 weeks! I am so excited to go back to school and get back with my school friends :) I really enjoy the program I am in. I am taking 5 classes this semester a big jump from my 2 last semester but also not as many as last fall as I was taking 7. Buddy is taking his prereq's for the Surgical Technician program. He is really excited and nervous all at the same time. It has been 6 years since he has been in school. Other than that this summer has been full of swimming, fishing, walks, bbqing, playing at the park, fireworks, blowing bubbles, going to weddings, bowling, baking cookies (with Burton and mom) and one trip of camping (which Burton enjoyed except for the sleeping in a tent. He kept screaming I want my bed!). All is well in our world, hoping everything is well in yours! Sending our love

My sister and her family came up to Idaho Falls last weekend for her birthday and while they were here Melissa and I took our boys to the playland in the mall where they had a blast! We would have gone to the park but hmm spring break and it was SNOWING go figure right? So here are the kids playing like maniacs!









When we returned home we washed our hands very well as you would if you were to look at all the yucky kids with diseases who play there! I wonder if they ever sanitize these toys??? HMMM... wonder.....

Brotherly Love

Here is our new addition to our family. As you can see Burton loves being the big brother and loves to give baby kisses. He will even run up to me and tell me when she is crying and then want to give her her binky. He has just blown me out of the water with how good they are together. Burton truly loves Maddi Kay!

Madilyn Kaydance Shaw

January 11, 2009 at approximately 2 in the morning I woke up to a sharp contraction and a feeling of did I just pee my freaking pants? So I decided to to sit up and see if I started to get contractions and time them before I woke up Buddy, mostly because he is a constant worrier and was finally asleep which is a big deal for someone that normally can't fall asleep so I let him sleep. Well after sitting up stairs on the couch having contractions less than 5 min apart I decided to go lay back down on my bed, only a few min later deciding that yes I was in labor and I should probably wake my husband up.... So I tap on him and say I'm in labor we need to leave now. Buddy -"Are you having contractions?" Me" Yes, less than 5 min apart and they hurt really really bad. I told you I was going to have her this weekend since my mom went to my little nephew Gabe's party down in Layton. HAHA" Anyway we took Burton over to Buddy's mom's house and went to the hospital arriving around 3. The nice little nurse checked me and was like oh shoot you are at a 6 and she is right there. Let me call the Dr. Do you want an epidural? Me"YES!" Nurse" Ok well we'll try to get him here in time but since its the middle of the nigth I'm not promising he'll make it. " The nice nurse then checks me again and I was at an 8 or 9 (don't remember mostly because I was having contractions every stinkin minute) so she calls Leavitt again and tells him to come straight in that there isnt going to be any waiting time. The next thing I know the anesthesologist is there Leavitt is there and a few pokes later it was time to push. At 3:46 Madilyn was born 7lbs, 20 1/2 inches long and beautiful as can be.

Week 37

Doctor doctor give me the news I've got a bad case of .... being pregnant. So went to see the doctor today who says hey you are 2cm dialated 75% effaced and ope there is her head. Then continues to talk to me, I go I am ready to have this baby when can you induce me? PA says 39 weeks oh wait Dr. Leavitt will be out of town the week you're due... how natural do you want to do this? I go I am ready to have this baby. She smiles says hold on just a minute let me go talk to Leavitt. Blah blah blah 15 min later, she comes back in and is like well Leavitt will see you next Tuesday afternoon and strip you membranes to see if that starts anything... so until then I will be doing some walking some playing of the wii and maybe lifting some boxes somewhere. Two reasons, I am ready to have this baby and secondly I would perfer if my dr were the one that was actually there for delivery. I will be quite upset with Miss Madilyn if she decides to come while the dr is out of town and the heck she isnt waiting until he gets back. NOT HAPPENING. So if you have any suggestions on how to get a baby out of you please let me know :)

On a lighter note Burton is still adorable and I love him bunches, and I love Maddi too I could just be a little upset with this whole situation of not doing what her mother says, lol, also I start school Monday yeah! Maddi that means be born tomorrow.

Week 36

Well I am officially getting really close to having our second baby Madilyn. We went to the Dr. on Monday and everything looks great. Heartbeat is still in the 150's, she is still head down, I have dilated to almost 2cm and I have begun to feel her dropping.... aka sharp shooting pains in my legs and who... awkward but in a weird way exciting. Maddi is still very active and any movement she makes is very visible to anyone, as in my whole stomach shakes. It is so neat to get to see this, since I missed the "enjoyment" of the 3rd trimester with Burton so its kind of fun in a painful, sleepless way to get to have a normal pregnancy with Maddi. Still we can't wait to meet her soon... I wouldn't mind having her a couple weeks early, but I am sure that my sister in law Julie would appreciate it if we waited until after the 3rd (my baby shower date). :) So we will just keep cookin' only 25 days until my actual due date! WAHOO

Night on the wooden floor...

Matt, Melissa and Gabe were in town for Christmas so on their last night we went out to dinner and then went bowling as a whole family. It was such a blast! Josh and Toni did such a great job, Burton thought it was so cool that he was able to play... with the help of daddy and Gabe was being just a happy little guy, probably because he got to stay up past his bed time and that was pretty cool.
The game stayed pretty close in the beginning for the "adults" but in the end Mom and Matt broke away from the pack with winning scores.
Here are the excuses from the losing people on why we did so bad...
Melissa, " I bit my tongue during dinner so I was just having an off night."
Buddy, " I haven't played in three years, I used to be really good."
Kayleen, "I am 36 weeks pregnant so technically I have two bowling balls, that is definitely a handicap."
Other that our lame excuses... we had a great time and hope to go again soon so we can hopefully have some better scores! :)

Disregard my we have no snow post...lol

So for the past four days it has done nothing but snow and then the wind blows and blow the snow and then it snows again. It is really cold and the roads are horrid, but it is starting to look like an Idaho Christmas which is nice. I mean seriously if you are going to have to live in Idaho and freeze the least we can ask for is snow for Christmas. Other than that I have nothing new to report besides this great email I received from a friend I worked with down in Utah and it made me giggle so I am going to just post it and not send it to every single person I know :)

Please Print out and carry with you in case you forget what to do. HOLIDAY EATING TIPS 1. Avoid carrot sticks. Anyone who puts carrots on a holiday buffet table knows nothing of the Christmas spirit. In fact, if you see carrots, leave immediately. Go next door, where they're serving rum balls. 2. Drink as much eggnog as you can. And quickly. It's rare.. You cannot find it any other time of year but now. So drink up! Who cares that it has 10,000 calories in every sip? It's not as if you're going to turn into an eggnog-alcoholic or something. It's a treat. Enjoy it. Have one for me. Have two. It's later than you think. It's Christmas! 3. If something comes with gravy, use it. That's the whole point of gravy. Gravy does not stand alone. Pour it on. Make a volcano out of your mashed potatoes. Fill it with gravy. Eat the volcano. Repeat. 4. As for mashed potatoes, always ask if they're made with skim milk or whole milk. If it's skim, pass. Why bother? It's like buying a sports car with an automatic transmission. 5. Do not have a snack before going to a party in an effort to control your eating. The whole point of going to a Christmas party is to eat other people's food for free. Lots of it. Hello? 6. Under no circumstances should you exercise between now and New Year's. You can do that in January when you have nothing else to do. This is the time for long naps, which you'll need after circling the buffet table while carrying a 10-pound plate of food and that vat of eggnog. 7. If you come across something really good at a buffet table, like frosted Christmas cookies in the shape and size of Santa, position yourself near them and don't budge. Have as many as you can before becoming the center of attention. They're like a beautiful pair of shoes. If you leave them behind, you're never going to see them again. 8. Same for pies. Apple,Pumpkin, Mincemeat. Have a slice of each. Or if you don't like mincemeat, have two apples and one pumpkin. Always have three. When else do you get to have more than one dessert? LaborDay? 9. Did someone mention fruitcake? Granted, it's loaded with the mandatory celebratory calories, but avoid it at all cost. I mean, have some standards. 10. One final tip: If you don't feel terrible when you leave the party or get up from the table , you haven't been paying attention. Re-read tips; start over, but hurry, January is just around the corner. Remember this motto to live by: "Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, chocolate in one hand, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming "WOO HOO what a ride!" Dr. Appointment

Well I went to the doctor this morning for my 33 week check up. I will be 34 weeks this Saturday! I measured at 34 cm, and it was a really quick appointment. Pee in a cup, say hello to Dr. Leavitt, get measured, listened to Maddi's heartbeat which was 152 and then I scheduled my appointments through my due date. After Christmas I will be going every week. It is just weird to think that we are getting that close. While I was scheduling my appointments the receptionist happen to say that Dr Leavitt was going to be out of town the week of the 19th which is the week of my due date. Now in all likely hood me having my baby that week is not great any way, but you never know. So I left the doctor's office having a minor panic attack and called them back when I got home. Well comes to find out he's just going to be out of the office, not out of the area. So if it comes to that he'll still be there for the delivery of our baby. Feeling a little better now :) lol I am totally a worry wart about this delivery thing, but I feel rightfully so after my doctor with Burton was out of town and then we had all of our problems. So I am just a little relieved to hear that no Leavitt doesn't really get to go anywhere, ever, poor guy and his poor family. But hey its great for his patients and his practice :) Well I think that is about all I can yack about right now. I am going to go make banana bread with my grandma. ALSO 13 DAYS TIL CHRISTMAS
